Baseball Game Preview: Cathedral Fighting Irish vs. Clovis Wildcats

The Cathedral Fighting Irish will take on the Clovis Wildcats in a tournament on Thursday. Cathedral will be strutting in after a win while Clovis will be coming in after a loss.

Cathedral took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over Chaparral. The Fighting Irish haven't had any issues with the Lobos recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Diego Ledezma tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Leonardo Fonseca was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Tirso Felix was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Cathedral kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Clovis' offense. They came up short against Piedra Vista on Saturday, falling 11-0. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cathedral's record is now 6-3-2. As for Clovis, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
