Starting off the list is Flanagan/Woodland's Leelynd Durbin, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Austin Nelson produced his most outstanding game to date while leading West Prairie/Southeastern to the win on Friday. Nelson rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 112 or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
Nelson might have his next game, a home matchup with Peoria Heights, circled on his calendar. Nelson rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries the last time he and Peoria Heights duked it out back in September of 2023.
