Leelynd Durbin Sets Career High in Rushing Yards

Starting off the list is Flanagan/Woodland's Leelynd Durbin, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Durbin rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.

Flanagan/Woodland's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Durbin and Flanagan/Woodland will venture away from home to challenge Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

A Season-Best Effort from Austin Nelson Leads West Prairie/Southeastern over Galva

Austin Nelson produced his most outstanding game to date while leading West Prairie/Southeastern to the win on Friday. Nelson rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 112 or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

Nelson might have his next game, a home matchup with Peoria Heights, circled on his calendar. Nelson rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries the last time he and Peoria Heights duked it out back in September of 2023.

Seth Jones Has Career Rushing Day

Seth Jones posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns.

On the year, Jones has averaged 98.3 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he had one rushing touchdown. This year he is already up to nine.

Thanks in part to Matt Whitman, West Prairie/Southeastern said goodbye to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season. Whitman was unstoppable on Friday, rushing for 41 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 34 yards and a touchdown.

This season, Whitman has thrown 2 touchdowns while averaging 26.5 passing yards per game.

Braden Coplan Puts an End to West Prairie/Southeastern's Losing Streak on Friday
