Softball Recap: St. Martin Wins Going Away Against St. Patrick

While St. Martin didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the St. Patrick Fighting Irish with a sharp 16-2 victory on Friday. The match marked the Yellow Jackets' most dominant win of the season so far.

Savannah Terrell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits. What's more, she gave up only two walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Mia Boney was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Madalynn Broussard, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

St. Martin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive contests.

St. Martin's record now sits at 5-2. As for St. Patrick, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, St. Martin will take on Hancock at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Patrick, they will square off against Picayune at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
