Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Daniela Guerra-Acuna and Adalin Gutierrez Lead Brandeis to Victory

Brandeis posted their closest win since August 23rd on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Vandegrift Vipers. This was a revenge game for the Broncos: when they faced off against the Vipers on Thursday, they had to take a 2-0 loss.

Brandeis had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-15, 25-19.

Leading Brandeis to victory were Adalin Gutierrez and Daniela Guerra-acuna. Gutierrez had ten digs and three assists, while Guerra-acuna had six digs, five kills, and one block. That's the most assists Gutierrez has posted over her last nine matches.

Brandeis was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Vandegrift's loss came despite strong showings from Isobel Cullen and Siri Krishna. Cullen had ten digs and one assist, while Krishna had three digs. Camille Garcia also deserves some recognition as she had her first digs of the season.

The win snapped Brandeis' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-18 record. As for Vandegrift, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-15.

Coming up, Brandeis will head out to face off against Westlake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vandegrift, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Rockwall on the 30th.
