Soccer Game Preview: Bishop's vs. La Jolla Country Day

The Bishop's Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the La Jolla Country Day Torreys at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Bishop's managed to keep up with Pacific Ridge until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Bishop's lost 5-1 to Pacific Ridge. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 715th, while the Firebirds are ranked 155th).

Meanwhile, La Jolla Country Day sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Escondido Charter on Wednesday.

La Jolla Country Day is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5-2 record this season. As for Bishop's, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-1.

Bishop's might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from La Jolla Country Day when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Bishop's avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
