Softball Game Preview: Bardstown Tigers vs. Fort Knox Eagles

The Bardstown Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Fort Knox Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Bardstown came out on top against Bullitt Central on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run sixth inning. The Tigers blew past the Cougars 20-7. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Bardstown got a massive performance out of Gracie Edelen, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave Edelen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Kisegy, who went 2-for-5 with four runs and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Fort Knox made easy work of Central on Monday and carried off a 14-4 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Nia Aldana was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Aldana was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Madisyn Schwemle was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Layna Morgan was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Bardstown's record now sits at 5-10. As for Fort Knox, their record is now 5-20-1.

Everything went Bardstown's way against Fort Knox in their previous meeting back in April, as Bardstown made off with a 17-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
