Basketball Recap: Morristown Falls to Governor Livingston in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Morristown unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 54-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Governor Livingston Highlanders on Saturday. While the Colonials didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Highlanders 16-10 in the first quarter.

Despite the defeat, Morristown saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kaidan Martin shot 46% from the field en route to 15 points. Jack Hayes was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Governor Livingston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but James Cannizzaro led the charge by earning 13 points along with five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Francisco Londono, who posted six points.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morristown will be home for the holidays to greet Roxbury at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Governor Livingston, they will welcome Koinonia Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
