Basketball Game Preview: Boyertown Bears vs. Norristown Eagles

The Boyertown Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Norristown Eagles at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Boyertown will be strutting in after a victory while Norristown will be coming in after a defeat.

Boyertown is coming into the matchup on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They managed a 44-38 victory over Upper Perkiomen on Tuesday.

Boyertown's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Trey Kern, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards, and Joey Schreiner, who posted 14 points and three steals. Kern's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Keeshawn Copeland also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Norristown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a blow against Downingtown West, falling 65-32. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 572nd, while the Whippets are ranked 174th).

Boyertown's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Norristown, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Boyertown beat Norristown 73-62 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Boyertown since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
