Softball Recap: Poly Finds Home Field Redemption Against Ayala

There's no place like home for Poly, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They put the hurt on the Ayala Bulldogs with a sharp 7-1 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Marley Audoma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Cassandra Ayala and Violet Espin did most of the damage at the plate: Ayala scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Espin scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Espin also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.

Poly's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Ayala, they moved to 5-1 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Coming up, Poly is taking a road trip to take on King at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ayala, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Upland at 3:15 p.m.
