Soccer Game Preview: Gloucester vs. Denbigh

Gloucester is a perfect 6-0 against Denbigh since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Gloucester will head out to take on Denbigh at 4:00 p.m. Gloucester is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Gloucester is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Poquoson, who was ranked fourth at the time (Gloucester was ranked first). Gloucester blew past Poquoson 3-0 on Wednesday. Considering Gloucester have won four matchups by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Poquoson with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Gavin Blanks, Mason Schmidt, and Corey Skay.

Meanwhile, Denbigh fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Salem on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 2-0 to the Sundevils. Having soared to a lofty five goals in the game before, Denbigh's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Gloucester's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Denbigh, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Everything went Gloucester's way against Denbigh in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Gloucester made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gloucester since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
