Preview: Garfield Bulldogs vs. O'Dea Fighting Irish
Garfield is 0-8 against O'Dea since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Garfield Bulldogs will take on the O'Dea Fighting Irish at 2:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Garfield had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They managed a 28-22 win over Mt. Spokane. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Garfield.
Meanwhile, O'Dea put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They didn't even let Auburn Riverside onto the board and left with a 48-0 win. Considering O'Dea has won nine games by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jason Brown jr went supernova for O'Dea, rushing for 239 yards and five touchdowns on only 12 carries. Brown jr was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards. Another big playmaker for O'Dea was Kyan Mcdonald, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Garfield's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for O'Dea, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Garfield was taken down by O'Dea 49-13 in their previous matchup back in October. Can Garfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
