Basketball Game Preview: Friends Academy Quakers vs. Valley Stream North Spartans

Friends Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Island Trees 84-62 on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Quakers as they're now sitting on six straight.

Friends Academy found their leader in sophomore Eyan Valadez, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and ten rebounds. The match was Valadez's fourth in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Jordan, who posted 15 points and five boards.

Friends Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 21 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Valley Stream North walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 59-39 margin over the Falcons on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Spartans have posted since December 5, 2024.

Friends Academy's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Valley Stream North, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
