Basketball Recap: Northumberland Finds Playoff Glory Versus Essex

With a playoff win on the line, Northumberland rose to the challenge on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-54 victory over the Essex Trojans. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Leading Northumberland to victory were Tyreek Lundy and JD Barber. Lundy posted 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds, while Barber earned 16 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Lundy is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Try'Quaun Burton also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Northumberland's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3. As for Essex, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
