Basketball Recap: Daviess County Takes a Loss

Daviess County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 51-38 to the Owensboro Red Devils. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Red Devils from their previous meeting back in February.

Despite the loss, Daviess County still got an impressive performance from Kennedy Lane, who went 7 of 16 en route to 18 points and seven rebounds. Lane's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Owensboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keeley Harris, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 boards. With that strong performance, Harris is now averaging an impressive 8.8 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Shalyn Sprinkles, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Daviess County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Owensboro, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.

Daviess County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-50 loss against Father Ryan on the 14th. As for Owensboro, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-42 defeat against Edmonson County on the 14th.
