Volleyball Recap: Gilbert Gets the Win

After losing to Ben Lippen the last time they met, Gilbert decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Indians won by a set and slipped past the Falcons 2-1.

Gabby Esposito paced Gilbert's offense, picking up seven kills. Esposito got some help from Kaylie Spires and her 18 assists. Esposito also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Abigail Widmann, racking up three apiece.

Gilbert is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Ben Lippen, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7-1.

Gilbert wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Aynor on the 20th. As for Ben Lippen, they will head out on the road to square off against Heathwood Hall Episcopal at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
