Baseball Recap: Manchester Academy's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Manchester Academy waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Greenville Christian Saints. Considering the Mavericks have won 15 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jon Parker Dees made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed over his last seven contests. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hayden Austin was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Grant Nixon was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Manchester Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Manchester Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Greenville Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coming up, Manchester Academy will head out on the road to face off against St. Joseph at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something Manchester Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greenville Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
