Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Africentric Early College

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Africentric Early College walked away with it. They walked away with a 46-38 victory over the Fredericktown Freddies on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Nubians also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2019.

Several Freddies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mya Bryant, who posted eight points in addition to 12 boards and five assists. Bryant has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Cally Carpenter was another key player, on her way to 13 points.

The win (which was Africentric Early College's third in a row) raised their record to 18-7. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points over those games. As for Fredericktown, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-5.

Coming up, Africentric Early College will be playing at home against Clear Fork at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Clear Fork's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. Fredericktown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
