Baseball Game Preview: Varina Blue Devils vs. Highland Springs Springers

The Varina Blue Devils will venture away from home to face off against the Highland Springs Springers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Varina came up short against Manchester on Tuesday, falling 9-1. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Highland Springs hadn't done well against Manchester recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Springers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lancers 7-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Springers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Varina's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Highland Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Everything went Varina's way against Highland Springs in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Varina made off with an 11-4 win. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Springers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
