Winter Haven (Fla.) defeated Lake Region (Eagle Lake, Fla.) 39-7.
The Blue Devils scored on a touchdown run by
D'angelo Gaines and a
Darian Mills touchdown pass to
Kendrick Holland in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a Gaines touchdown run in the second quarter, Winter Haven led 15-0 at the half.
WH expanded its lead to 29 points entering the fourth quarter. The Blue Devils scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Mills to
Chayce Armbruster.
Mills stood out for Winter Haven in the win. He threw three touchdowns.
Lake Region's only touchdown came on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.
WH came in allowing an average of 19.0 points per game this season.
The loss comes after Lake Region defeated Tenoroc 50-13 last week. With the win the Blue Devils extended their winning streak to four games.
In a non-conference game next week Winter Haven (7-2) takes on Auburndale, and Lake Region (4-5) will go up against Haines City also in a non-conference game.
