Baseball Game Preview: Cranbrook Kingswood Cranes vs. Lutheran Warriors

The Cranbrook Kingswood Cranes will head out to take on the Lutheran Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lutheran took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cranbrook Kingswood, who comes in off a win.

While Cranbrook Kingswood's victory against Our Lady of the Lakes wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cranes skirted past the Lakers 3-2. While the Cranes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Lutheran has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.8 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They lost 11-1 to Cabrini. The contest marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Lutheran saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Baltz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Cranbrook Kingswood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Lutheran fell to 4-1.

Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cranbrook Kingswood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Lutheran struggles in that department as they've averaged .392. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Cranbrook Kingswood beat Lutheran 6-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cranes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
