Recap: Newfane Panthers vs. Portville/Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale Central
The Newfane Panthers missed an extra point against the Portville/Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale Central on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Newfane was just a hair shy of victory and fell 48-47 to Portville/Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale Central. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (34), Newfane still had to take the loss.
Defeat or not, Newfane got some senior leadership from Nathan Snow who threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.2% of his passes and Ben Dickinson who picked up 205 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Dickinson's longest reception was for an incredible 90 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Walker, who gained 39 total yards and two touchdowns.
Newfane are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-3. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Portville/Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale Central, Wilson, and Medina. As for Portville/Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale Central, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
Newfane does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Portville/Cuba-Rushford/Hinsdale Central will square off against Salamanca at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
