Baseball Recap: Kohala Takes a Loss

Kohala extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-6. They came up short against the Honoka'a Dragons, falling 11-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in March.

As for Honoka'a, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 11-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games.

For Honoka'a's part, Jayden Salazar made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave Salazar a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Honoka'a got a massive performance out of Chrys Coelho, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Coelho has posted since back in March of 2025. Josyah Napoleon-Umeda was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Honoka'a beat Kohala by a score of 9-0 later that day.
