Basketball Recap: Science Leadership Academy at Beeber Takes a Loss

Science Leadership Academy at Beeber and Shalom Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Science Leadership Academy at Beeber had to settle for second. They fell 60-50 to the Shalom Christian Academy Flames. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Flames are ranked 81st).

Despite the defeat, Science Leadership Academy at Beeber saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Raegan Wells-Bradley almost dropped a double-double with 35 points and nine rebounds. Wells-Bradley is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace Vanderpool, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Shalom Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily Rebok, who went 7-for-16 on her way to 20 points in addition to five boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Rebok a new career-high in steals. Addison Adams was another key player, shooting 48% from the field to rack up 25 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Science Leadership Academy at Beeber and nudges their season record down to 12-3. As for Shalom Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.

Science Leadership Academy at Beeber does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Shalom Christian Academy, they have already played their next match, a 23-18 loss against Williams Valley on the 11th.
