Basketball Recap: Mackay Takes a Loss

Mackay lost against Salmon back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mackay Miners fell 53-44 to the Salmon Savages.

Despite the loss, Mackay still got an impressive performance from Kaizer Summers, who went 9 of 22 en route to 24 points along with eight boards and three blocks. The matchup was Summers' eighth in a row with at least ten points.

Broc Matthews went supernova for Salmon, going 7 for 12 on his way to 26 points in addition to six steals and five assists. Wyatt Pilkerton was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Mackay's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Salmon, their record now sits at 6-9.

Mackay has already played their next game, a 47-43 win against Richfield on the 25th. As for Salmon, they will face off against Ririe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Ririe's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Salmon has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
