Basketball Recap: Northfield Takes a Loss

Northfield lost against Rangeview back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Northfield Nighthawks had to suffer through an 80-42 loss at the hands of the Rangeview Raiders. The contest marked the Nighthawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Northfield still got an impressive performance from Cole Young, who posted 19 points. The dominant performance gave Young a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gyasi Hawthorne, who earned nine points and seven boards.

Rangeview found their leader in freshman Marceles Duncan, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 steals. With that strong performance, Duncan is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Kenny Black-Knox, who went 6-for-7 on his way to 14 points.

Northfield has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. The win keeps them at an undefeated 22-0.

Northfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-68 defeat against George Washington on the 21st. As for Rangeview, they will take on Denver South at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Rangeview's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
