Softball Game Preview: Davidson Warriors vs. St. Michael Catholic Cardinals

The Davidson Warriors will square off against the St. Michael Catholic Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Davidson has five straight victories, St. Michael Catholic has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Davidson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Blount 20-2 on Friday. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, St. Michael Catholic fell victim to Robertsdale and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Golden Bears, falling 10-0.

Davidson pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average this season. As for St. Michael Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Davidson couldn't quite get it done against St. Michael Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can Davidson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
