Recap: Smithton Tigers vs. Tipton Cardinals
The Smithton Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Tipton on the road by a decisive 69-52 margin. While losing is never fun, Smithton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 385th, while Tipton is ranked 170th).
Zach Moon was nothing short of spectacular for Tipton: he scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Moon is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Cashman, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Smithton dropped their record down to 8-15 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Tipton, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.
Smithton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-44 win vs. Otterville on the 10th. Tipton will be playing at home against Stover at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stover knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Tipton likes a good challenge.
