Softball Recap: Calhoun Beats Greenfield/Northwestern for Their Third Straight Win

While Calhoun put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Greenfield/Northwestern. The Warriors put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Audrey Gilman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and eight RBI while going 2-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Annie Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lilly Pelletier, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

Calhoun kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win (which was Calhoun's third in a row) raised their record to 15-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they dropped their record down to 9-13-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Calhoun will head out on the road to take on Southwestern at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Brown County at 4:30 p.m.
