Basketball Recap: Hawthorne Math & Science Academy Comes Up Short

Hawthorne Math & Science Academy played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Vistamar Vikings, falling 67-45. While losing is never fun, the The Aviators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 955th, while the Vikings are ranked 451st).

Vistamar found their leader in freshman Landon McMorris, who went 11 for 19 on his way to 29 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McMorris has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Hill, who posted 16 points along with six boards and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Vistamar, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Hawthorne Math & Science Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-39 loss against WISH Academy on the 12th. As for Vistamar, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-53 defeat against Geffen Academy on the 11th.
