Volleyball Recap: Maranatha Christian Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Maranatha Christian dropped to 3-3 on Tuesday, ending the team's ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Coronado Islanders. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Islanders when the teams met back in August of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Maranatha Christian's offense was headlined by Ellaina Lindberg and Presley Gibson, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Quinn Kaechele and her 15 assists. Gibson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

As for Coronado, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 18-1. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since August 27th (when they won 3-0).

Coronado got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Avalon Haro out in front who had nine digs and three aces. Alyssa Jovero was another key player, getting four aces and three digs.

Maranatha Christian has already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Lincoln on the 4th. As for Coronado, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against La Jolla Country Day on the 5th.
