Softball Recap: Coral Glades' Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Coral Glades entered their tilt with Cooper City on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Cowboys by a score of 7-2. This was payback for the Jaguars, who suffered a 10-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Haleigh Thomas tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Briana Escobar was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. Cameron Marques was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Coral Glades pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cooper City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coral Glades will square off against American Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Patriots have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Cooper City, they will take on West Broward at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
