Baseball Recap: Hillsboro Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hillsboro, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against the Cane Ridge Ravens by a score of 9-5 on Tuesday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 17-7 victory on April 7th.

The team relied heavily on Justin Umares, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Gooch, Jr., who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Hillsboro has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cane Ridge, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.
