Volleyball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Westfield's Winning Streak

After flying high against West Springfield on Tuesday, Westfield came back down to earth. The Bombers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Needham Rockets on Friday. The Bombers' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Needham scored at least 18 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-19, 17-25, 25-22.

Despite the defeat, Westfield had strong showings from Nolan Rodgers, who had 12 digs and two aces, and Max Yurtuc, who had 23 assists and five digs. Yurtuc has been hot, having posted 14 or more assists the last five times he's played.

Westfield's loss dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Needham, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Westfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Agawam on the 24th. Needham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
