Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Joseph). They blew past the St. Anthony Yellowjackets 19-0 on Tuesday. The Flyers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.
Shayne Meismer was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Jazmyn Gamez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Grimsinger, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
St. Joseph always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Anthony only posted an OBP of .267.
St. Joseph pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for St. Anthony, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
Coming up, St. Joseph will challenge Providence Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Anthony, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-5 defeat against Saint Mary's Hall on the 20th.
