Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Lancers vs. Falcon Falcons

The Liberty Lancers will take on the Falcon Falcons in a holiday battle at at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Liberty will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Liberty is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 73-12 victory over Pueblo South. With that win, the Lancers brought their scoring average up to 51.7 points per game.

Samira Gantt continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10 for 13 on her way to 22 points and six steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game. Lindsay Thompson was another key player, going 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Falcon's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Thursday. They took a 55-37 bruising from Vista Ridge. The loss was the Falcons' first of the season.

Liberty pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.0 points per game. As for Falcon, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
