Baseball Recap: Westville Comes Up Short

Westville had lost seven straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it eight. They lost 8-2 to the South Central Satellites. The Blackhawks were not able to make up for their loss to the Satellites from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Westville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Villarreal, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As for South Central, their win bumped their record up to 4-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

On South Central's side, they let Hunter Leuck and Corban DeWitt run wild. Leuck went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while DeWitt went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave DeWitt a new career-high. Taye Falls was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Westville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against South Shore Homeschool Athletics on the 5th. As for South Central, they have also already played their next matchup, a 16-0 defeat against Boone Grove on the 5th.
