Softball Recap: Carroll County Takes a Loss

Carroll County had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 10-5 to make it six. They fell just short of the Dixie Heights Colonels by a score of 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since May 19, 2025.

Carroll County saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Rose, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Addy Noble also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

As for Dixie Heights, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games.

On Dixie Heights' side, Sullee Sheehan tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Haley Waters, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Ashlyn McHargue was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Carroll County will take on Eminence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dixie Heights, they will square off against Pendleton County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
