Baseball Recap: Salem Takes a Loss

Saturday just wasn't the day for Salem's offense. They fell 4-0 to the Madison Cubs on Saturday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cubs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Salem's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-4-1. As for Madison, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Salem and Madison should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Lions (ranked 122nd) will meet Mitchell (ranked 255th) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Madison will face off against Charlestown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (29 vs. 96). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cubs 4.1, the Pirates 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
