Soccer Game Preview: Anacortes vs. Ferndale

The Anacortes Seahawks will face off against the Ferndale Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Anacortes' last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Anacortes is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Sehome, who was ranked second at the time (Anacortes was ranked seventh). While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was the Seahawks who were credited with the victory on Tuesday. Three seems to be a good number for them as the team scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Mailee Hilburn and Elliot Davis scored all three of Anacortes' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 19 goals.

Ferndale's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Mount Vernon 5-0. Ferndale might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by three goals or more this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Ferndale and bumps their season record up to 7-1-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two contests. As for Anacortes, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
