Basketball Recap: Bishop Gorman Takes a Loss

Bishop Gorman is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Mater Dei. The Bishop Gorman Gaels were outmatched by the Mater Dei Monarchs and fell 74-42. The Gaels were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-20.

When it comes to explaining why Bishop Gorman lost, don't look at Aaliah Spaight. Despite the final result, she posted 23 points. Spaight is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Savannah Searcy was another key player, putting up eight points and three blocks.

Bishop Gorman's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-6. As for Mater Dei, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-2.
