Baseball Recap: 11 Straight Home Wins for Villa Park

Villa Park had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bishop Amat Lancers on Thursday, sneaking past 8-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-3 back in April.

Jake Nobles made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shawn Romero, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Nate Lewis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Amat, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-7.
