Winnetonka is 0-3 against Pembroke Hill since May of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Griffins will look to defend their home field against the Raiders at 4:00 p.m.
Winnetonka made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Excelsior Springs, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Griffins wound up with the same score they had in their last game (8-6), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 8, 2024.
Meanwhile, Pembroke Hill had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Cardinals 13-1. Considering the Raiders have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jack Passan was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Langston Smith and Brendan Sotta did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Sotta got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Austin Soulis was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Pembroke Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Raytown South only posted an OBP of .286.
Pembroke Hill's win bumped their record up to 10-3-1. As for Winnetonka, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Winnetonka might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Pembroke Hill in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Griffins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
