It was a good run, but Leake Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Simpson Academy Cougars by a score of 6-5. If the Rebels were looking for revenge after losing 11-7 to the Cougars when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leake Academy got a good showing from Caden Stovall, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, Stovall gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Leake Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Majure Chandler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Leake Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Simpson Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

While Leake Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
