Basketball Recap: Douglas Jordan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Steinbrenner over Strawberry Crest

Steinbrenner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-58 heartbreaker at the hands of the Strawberry Crest Chargers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 78-54 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2014.

Steinbrenner's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Douglas Jordan, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Jordan has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Aulls, who went 5 for 8 en route to 17 points.

Even though they lost, Steinbrenner smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Strawberry Crest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maximus Von Ancken, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most boards Von Ancken has posted since back in December of 2024. Cameron Crowe was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Steinbrenner's loss dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Strawberry Crest, the win got them back to even at 12-12.

Steinbrenner has already played their next matchup, a 70-63 victory against Lennard on the 30th. As for Strawberry Crest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-59 win against Robinson on the 30th.
