Basketball Game Preview: Arcadia/Loup City Rebels vs. Central City Bison

Having just played yesterday, the Arcadia/Loup City Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Central City Bison at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Arcadia/Loup City will bounce into Friday's game after beating Wood River, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Arcadia/Loup City walked away with a 44-36 win over Wood River on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rebels.

Tayler Obermiller and Eva Jaixen were among the main playmakers for Arcadia/Loup City as the former went 5 of 11 on her way to 17 points and five rebounds and the latter posted ten points in addition to six boards and four steals. Those 17 points gave Obermiller a new career-high.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Central City's strategy against Fillmore Central on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Central City blew Fillmore Central out of the water with a 61-30 final score. Given the Bison's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Panthers are ranked 190th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Arcadia/Loup City better focus on containing Sydni Homolka and Reagan Fousek as the pair were huge in Central City's win. Homolka put up 19 points, while Fousek had 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Paup, who posted eight points.

Central City's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.2 points per game. As for Arcadia/Loup City, their record now sits at 7-3.

Arcadia/Loup City came up short against Central City when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 44-38. Can Arcadia/Loup City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
