Basketball Game Preview: Sebring Blue Streaks vs. Mulberry Panthers

The Sebring Blue Streaks will head out on the road to take on the Mulberry Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Sebring is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Haines City on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Sebring was dealt an 81-13 defeat at the hands of Haines City. The Blue Streaks have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Adriana Maldonado was Sebring's leading scorer, having posted five points. Molly Jane Zwayer held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mulberry had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They walked away with a 53-44 victory over the Wildcats. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Wildcats are ranked 389th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mulberry pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Sebring, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Sebring beat Mulberry 48-40 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mulberry's Lorianys Castanon Cruz, who posted 36 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Sebring still be able to contain Castanon Cruz? There's only one way to find out.
