Basketball Game Preview: Westwood Panthers vs. Legacy Lions

After both having extra time off, the Westwood Panthers and the Legacy Lions will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Westwood lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Lincoln Park Academy, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Panthers took their matchup last Thursday with ease, bagging a 73-24 victory over the Greyhounds. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Panthers had established a 44-point advantage.

Westwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Edwin 'Flash' Gibson led the charge by putting up 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those six steals gave Gibson a new career-high. Alex 'The Leader' Jean was another key player, shooting 75% from the field en route to 13 points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, Legacy took their contest last Thursday with ease, bagging an 84-43 win over Master's Academy.

Westwood has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 47 points this season. As for Legacy, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
