Basketball Game Preview: Stanton Blue Devils vs. Ponte Vedra Sharks

The Stanton Blue Devils just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Ponte Vedra Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stanton will be strutting in after a win while Ponte Vedra will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, Stanton took their contest with ease, bagging a 61-20 victory over West Nassau. That looming 61-20 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Blue Devils yet this season.

Meanwhile, Ponte Vedra played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Tocoi Creek, falling 72-42.

Despite the defeat, Ponte Vedra saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Spencer-Gardner went 6 for 10 on her way to 15 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Hoffmann, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Ponte Vedra's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Stanton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Stanton was taken down by Ponte Vedra 60-11 when the teams last played back in January of 2016. Can Stanton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
