Richlands came tearing into Thursday's match with eight straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Croatan Cougars by a score of 5-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 last Tuesday.

Makenzie Goin made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

Goin wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Meece, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Meece has posted since back in March.

Richlands' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. As for Croatan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richlands will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Dixon at 6:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Croatan, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against East Carteret at 6:00 p.m. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mariners have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
