Albemarle had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.4 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They breezed by the Monticello Mustangs to the tune of 71-28. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 60-52 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Monticello still got an impressive performance from Sam Messinger, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Albemarle pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for Monticello, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Albemarle has already played their next game, a 53-40 win against Charlottesville on the 20th. As for Monticello, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-55 victory against Orange County on the 21st.
